Homes that are not built with brick style chimneys, are sometimes designed with what is called a Chimney Chase, constructed right into the frame of the home, allowing for the routing of 1 or more chimney flue pipes to exhaust safely to the Chase’s Top. The top of that wooden structure is often very high up and only visible by a chimney technician on a routine scheduled maintenance. When correctly built the top of the chase should be pitched outward preventing any standing rain water from ponding there, which ultimately causes leaks then the rusting and deterioration of the entire Chase top. Chimney Chase Covers are then used as a replacement of the original chimney cover. Most new Chimney Chase Covers are custom fabricated to fit perfect and are often made in one piece, using stainless steel or copper sheets metal.
